United States — Customs, duties & de minimis
United States — Customs, duties & de minimis (EN)
Incoterm: DAP — the recipient pays import duties, taxes, and clearance/handling fees.
Carrier: Shipped from Japan via Japan Post (International ePacket Light / EMS, tracked). Recent policy changes may cause postal-network delays/limits.
1) De minimis suspended
-
Effective Aug 29, 2025, the $800 de minimis (Section 321) duty-free treatment is suspended. Low-value parcels are now subject to applicable duties/taxes.
2) How charges are assessed
-
Duty depends on HS code, origin, and any applicable trade measures.
-
IEEPA reciprocal tariff: reference rate 10% ad valorem unless an exception applies; other MFN or special tariffs may stack. Final assessment per CBP at import.
-
Collection: typically advanced by the carrier/broker and billed to the recipient.
3) Network advisory
-
Following the suspension, several foreign postal operators limited/suspended U.S.-bound acceptance, creating potential delays. We may switch to express alternatives if needed.
4) Notes
-
Customs may request ID or proof of purchase; slow replies can cause delays/returns.
-
Store prices exclude duties, taxes, and carrier handling fees.
-
For returns, mark parcels “Returned Goods.”
